For several months, Google has been evolving Google Business Profile listings: reviews posted on Facebook, TripAdvisor, Uber Eats or Trustpilot now appear alongside your Google rating. One listing, several sources. Here is what this change means for your business's online reputation.
1. What's actually changing
Until now, a Google Business Profile listing only showed reviews left directly on Google. Google now also aggregates reviews posted on other recognised platforms: Facebook, TripAdvisor, Uber Eats, Trustpilot. Your Google rating is still calculated from Google reviews alone, but external reviews now appear alongside it, visible to anyone who views your listing.
2. Why now
This shift follows the logic of the European Digital Markets Act, which pushes large platforms toward more transparency and fairer competition between review services. Google can no longer simply highlight its own rating while ignoring what is being said elsewhere about your business.
3. What this means for a Belgian SME
Review volume has exploded: over one year, the average rose from 320 to 420 reviews per listing, a 31% increase. And 70% of businesses already display a rating above 4 out of 5. In this context, a good Google rating is no longer enough to stand out if your Facebook or TripAdvisor rating tells a different story. A gap between platforms is now visible at a glance, and it raises questions for a prospect before they even click on your listing.
4. The right move: a review strategy, not one isolated listing
Managing your online reputation can no longer stop at monitoring your Google listing. You now need to track and align your presence across every review platform relevant to your business, respond everywhere with the same rigour, and regularly check that the ratings tell the same story.
The AI lens, humans first
An AI agent can continuously monitor reviews posted on Google, Facebook, TripAdvisor or Trustpilot, and flag any rating gap or negative review as it appears. That is a genuine time saver. But deciding how to respond to a sensitive review, and building a consistent collection strategy across platforms, remains an expert's job, one who knows your business and your customers. AI executes. Expertise decides, and watches.
