Bpost and Ads & Data combine data to sharpen targeting for Belgian advertising

12 October 2026·3 min read

On 6 October 2026, Belgian postal operator Bpost and Belgian ad sales house Ads & Data announced an audience segmentation partnership, according to their joint statement. Bpost's lifestyle and purchase-intent data now enriches the segments that Ads & Data activates across its media ecosystem, from digital to addressed mail. For companies buying advertising in Belgium, this local data pairing offers an extra option alongside the large international platforms. It also raises the question of how much control businesses keep over how that data is used.

1. Two Belgian players combine their data

Bpost contributes data from its lifestyle database on Belgian consumers, including car purchase intent and interest in certain insurance products, according to The Media Leader Belgium. Ads & Data adds its own browsing and viewing data, collected across the local media ecosystem it commercialises.

The approach is designed to be omnichannel. The same audience segment can be activated through Ads & Data's digital ecosystem or, separately, through Bpost's Direct Mail service, according to the two companies' joint statement. The advertiser chooses the channel, or both, depending on its strategy.

2. What this means for Belgian businesses

Belgium's advertising market remains dominated by international platforms. A partnership between two local players like this one gives Belgian advertisers an extra data source built on consumers in the country, rather than on global profiles calibrated elsewhere.

For a mid-sized company, the value mainly lies in combining channels. The same audience targeted online can also receive addressed mail, allowing several touchpoints to be tested without multiplying internal databases.

3. The vigilance this partnership does not remove

Both companies state that the collaboration complies with applicable data protection regulation, according to their statement. That compliance does not exempt the advertising business from checking, on its own side, the legal basis for processing and the consent of the people concerned.

Access to more data does not guarantee a more relevant campaign. Choosing which segments to activate, and keeping the message consistent for each one, remains a human decision, not an automatic setting.

The AI lens, humans first

On this kind of partnership, AI can sort and cross-reference large volumes of behavioural data quickly, then predict which segments will respond best to a given offer. What it cannot do is judge whether a segment fits the company's brand, or verify that each piece of data was collected with valid consent. AI executes. Expertise decides, and keeps watch.

This week

This week, list the data sources used in your current campaigns and check their GDPR legal basis. If you are considering this kind of partnership, test a single segment on a limited budget before expanding it. Also compare the cost of combined online and addressed-mail targeting with that of your usual channels.

The Vistalaro view

Vistalaro Reach checks, before any activation, whether a new Belgian data segment genuinely strengthens a Google, Meta or LinkedIn campaign for the client business. Vistalaro Pilot helps the business choose which data to activate first, rather than switching on every option available at once.

Does your business know which data already feeds its advertising campaigns?

A quick audit of the segments in use is worth more than one more targeting tool.
